The achievements of Maureen FitzSimons when she was a teenager in America (which we call Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the child-prodigy category. This was a natural trait to a person born in Ireland. by talented parents and a loving, supportive family. Maureen was welcomed into this cherished haven within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a gifted contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and also owned part of the well-known Irish soccer club "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons came 2nd in the group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off this gorgeous group. Maureen excelled at sports and was a lover of rough play. This passion was combined with an equally natural talent of performing. She was awarded nearly every Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance which her nation had to provide. At the age of 14, she was admitted to the highly acclaimed Abbey Theater and pursued her goal of performing in classical theatre and operatic singing.
